Areas of application

ICW-3 is used for protection of cooling water systems in diecast machines, extruders, refrigerated counters, dealer tables and other machinery or furnishings using cooling water, requiring intervention in the event of leakage from the system.

Variants

ICW-3: Protection of a closed system by circuit monitoring.
Cut-off of Intake and Return on alarm.

ICW-3-R2: Protection of a system with a branch outlet by circuit monitoring.
Cut-off of Intake and Return on alarm.

ICW-3-R2V: Protection of a system with a branch outlet by circuit monitoring.
Cut-off of Outlet, Intake and Return on alarm.

ICW-3-R2EM: Protection of a system with a branch outlet by circuit and branch monitoring.
Cut-off of Intake and Return on alarm in circuit or branch.

ICW-3-R2EMV: Protection of a system with a branch outlet by circuit and branch monitoring.
Cut-off of Outlet, Intake and Return on alarm in circuit; cut-off of Outlet on alarm in branch.

ICW-3-CM: Protection of independent circuit/branch systems.
Cut-off of circuit on circuit alarm. No branch cut-off.

ICW-3-CMV: Protection of independent circuit/branch systems.
Cut-off of relevant system on alarm.

ICW-3-EM: Single branch protection.
No cut-off facility.

ICW-3-EMV: Single branch protection.
Branch cut-off on alarm.

Monitoring Functions

Circuit Monitoring

Leakage
Intake and Return flow is continuously monitored by measurement of flow difference. If a preset flow difference limit is exceeded, an alarm is issued, and the circuit is cut off.
In systems with an outlet branch, flow in the branch is considered Return flow.

Branch Monitoring
One or more of the following methods can be employed to obtain the desired branch monitoring, if appropriate:

Pipe/Hose failure
ICW-3 permits the continuous discharge of a preset amount of water. If this amount is surpassed in a single discharge, alarm is issued, and the Outlet is cut off. *).

Seepage
ICW-3 checks that the branch flow can drop and remain below a preset limit for a preset time duration, and will issue an alarm and cut off the Outlet if this fails to occur daily *).

Peak Flow
ICW-3 checks that the instantaneous flow does not exceed a preset limit for a preset time. If the limit is exceeded for a duration exceeding the time limit, an alarm is issued, and the Outlet is cut off *).

Average Flow
ICW-3 checks that the average flow does not exceed a preset limit. If the limit is exceeded, an alarm is issued, and the Outlet is cut off *).

Constance
ICW-3 checks that the flow does not remain unchanged at a nonzero value for a duration exceeding a preset time limit. If the limit is exceeded, an alarm is issued, and the Outlet is cut off. *).

Daily Consumption
ICW-3 checks the volume of media discharged in a day. If this volume exceeds a preset limit, an alarm is issued, and the Outlet is cut off *).

Hourly Consumption
ICW-3 checks the volume of media discharged in an hour. If this volume exceeds a preset limit, an alarm is issued, and the Outlet is cut off *).

Arbitrary Period Consumption
ICW-3 checks the volume of media discharged in an arbitrary period. If this volume exceeds a preset limit, an alarm is issued, and the Outlet is cut off *).

*) Not system ICW-3-EM. System ICW-3-R2EM cuts off the circuit on branch alarm. For system ICW-3-R2EMV circuit cut-off on branch alarm is optional.

System Errors
ICW-3 continuously checks the integrity of the attached components. On system error, an alarm is issued, and the installation is cut off.

Supply error
ICW-3 continuously monitors the mains supply and all internal voltage supplies. If either of these fail, an alarm is issued via relay, which may also be audible and visible.
